Description
These are the standard connections supplied with the LED rear light units if one of the optional plug-in adapters is not selected. The adapters simplify installation by removing the need to do any rewiring. A number of different adapter types are available to suit most classic and modern motorcycle applications I have come across. Please make sure you select the correct one for your bike by referring to LED rear light connectors and adapters page.
The three-wire connectors are ideal where the standard bulb socket or contacts inside your existing rear light are missing, corroded or otherwise no longer providing a reliable electrical connection. The internal contacts of the socket can be removed leaving a hole through which these wires can be connected directly to the brake and tail light supplies, and also to a suitable earth point on the motorcycle’s rear numberplate, mudguard or frame.
At one end of the connector is the special 3-pin connector which simply plugs in to the terminals on the rear of the LED light circuit board. Each of the three wires are approximately 300mm (12″) long and so offers plenty of flexibility for reaching and connecting with your bikes existing wiring. The wires can also of course be shortened to a suitable length if required.
The three wires can also be plaited together as shown in one of the additional photos above, which gives a nice neat installation. Ask your wife/sister/daughter if you’re not sure how!
This adapter is the default option supplied with all new LED rear light units, unless you chose to upgrade to one of our plug-in adapters.
