There are a number of suppliers in the UK who specialise in classic motorcycles so there aren’t too many parts that you’re going to have trouble finding. Ebay can be a good source for more hand-to-find items, but everyday items seem to go for more money in the online auctions than you can buy them for at regular shops!
Here are a few of the companies in the UK who I have used for parts or servicing of my Matchless motorbike and with whom I’ve been quite pleased.

Although I’m not an Ajay or Matchbox owner (I suffer from Velo-itis) I have used Russell Motors in Clapham Junction for the odd Classic spare and I know they specialise in AJS, Matchless and Norton spares. Friendly and helpful staff. They might be worth a mention for folks living nearby.
Chris
Thanks Chris. I have added the contact details for Russell Motors under the ‘General Spares’ section above. James
Hello,
My name is Garrath Palmer and I run Tin Man Productions. I am trying to drum up a few more orders. I am a sheet metal worker and make parts for classic bikes, such as chain guards, oil tanks, licence plate holders and mudguard stays. I can fix petrol tanks, but I don’t make them as they take me too long without all the fancy equipment. I do mostly make one off parts for custom bikes and cut downs, but all work considered. There are some pictures on facebook of a cut down I am currently working on.
If any of this appeals, please get in touch.
Regards
Garrath Palmer (Tin Man)

Hi Gareth. Do you have a website I can add a link to perhaps? Also sure it would be worth placing a message on some of the owner’s club forums.
Hi James,
I own a 1951 matchless g3ls. I have collected all needed spares for my bike. Please help me find an original smith speedo for my bike. I am waiting for your reply.
Hi,
I can vouch for Steve @ AMC Classic Spares. He has not let me down and knows all
about Matchless Bike.
I am in the process of restoring an old G9 and I all the frame parts from AMC. Soon I will be tackling the engine and I will turn to AMC for all the parts.
Good Job.
I have gotten failure notices for my inquiries to Russell Motors. Does anyone know if they are still in business? Thanks
Hi Paul. Russell Motors are still in business as far as I am aware. Perhaps you caught then at holiday time? Have you tried giving them a call?
Looking for contact number of Hawker Electrical as I need an exchange Dynamo for 1962 Matchless
A quick search on Google gave:
Sean Hawker – Hawker Electrical
Unit A7, Backfield Farm Business Park,
Wotton Road, Iron Acton, Bristol, BS37 9XD.
Tel/Fax: +44(0)1454 222934
But his website seems to be down and this is old info from 2011, so perhaps he is no longer in business? Why don’t you speak to Tony Cooper (see contact details above) instead?
Regards, James
I’m looking for a 350 Matchless inner alloy chaincase. Mine is damaged and I am struggling to find a replacement.
Any ideas? TIA
I’m looking for an outer primary chaincase and rear mudguard tail section for a 1938 AJS model2 998 V twin.
