Graham’s Triumph Bonneville 2010 SE
Graham was the first person to think of fitting one of my Lucas 564 style LED light boards, originally design for classic bikes, to a modern Triumph motorcycle. He really started the ball rolling in this respect with his post as ‘Ripper’ over at the TriumphRAT forum, and many other Bonneville owners have since followed suit.
I have to say though, that on fitting the board I was amazed. Those 4 LEDs completely outshine the original filament bulb and there is a large enough difference between light output of tail to brake lights as to be highly noticeable since all 10 LEDs light when the brake comes on. Fitting the board is easy and only takes around half an hour… Electrical connections are easy too.- 'Ripper' on the TriumphRAT forum.
After changing the stock rounded Triumph rear light unit for the more traditional Lucas 564 style lamp an upgrade to an LED board was the next logical step for Graham.
I’ve redone the whole rear mudguard with a new Lucas light unit (repro) since the old one had been drilled for the rear indicators which I wanted to relocate. The light was fitted a week ago and I must say I’m very impressed with its performance. The light originally had a 27/8w bulb and your board easily competes with that.- Graham M, UK (by email).
Sue’s Triumph Bonneville 2012 SE
Sue’s 2012 model Bonneville SE is another modern bike that has benefited from the change of rear light to a more classic looking Lucas unit with one of my LED light boards inside.
Hi James. Received the light this week. Fitted it. Everything working. All good! Thanks very much … Am well pleased.- Sue C, UK (by email).
Raglan’s 1955 650cc BSA A10
As well as my Matchless, the Lucas 564 type of rear light was fitted to many other classic British motorcycles of the 1950’s and 60’s such as Raglan’s 1955 swinging-arm BSA A10. You can see that the LED conversion is invisible once installed so provides a modern low-power high-brightness rear light without spoiling the bike’s period looks.
Peter’s 2010 Triumph Bonneville SE
The first of our new LED light boards designed to fit the standard rear light of the new Triumph Bonneville models have now been installed on customer’s bikes and Peter has kindly sent in the first installation photos.
As you say a 10 minute job, although I took my time and did it in 20 minutes. The instructions were spot on and the wiring on my 2010 Bonneville SE was as suggested.- Peter S, UK (by email).
Thomas’ Triumph Bonneville
Another of the first batch of our new Triumph LED boards has just been successfully installed on Thomas’ Bonneville.
I received and installed my LED tail light board today and it could not have been easier!- Thomas B (by email).
Peter’s 2010 Triumph Bonneville SE
Having previously upgraded his Bonneville with our LED tail light unit, Peter was one of our first customers to also install our Bonneville LED indicator kit too.
Installation all complete. The instructions were spot on and of course it would be a much easier job for someone who had the original units and was just changing the bulbs to your led units. I already had a led relay and everything seems to be working perfectly. Excellent upgrade, thanks very much.

My own 1951 Matchless G3LS
Ok, so I’m not a customer as such – but my own classic Matchless G3 certainly is, in fact it was the first bike to be fitted with one of my LED light boards. This is where the whole thing actually started when I couldn’t find a suitable LED rear light bulb anywhere, so instead decided to make my own! That was well over a year ago now and I’m pleased to say that this early prototype is still going strong, even in the heat and humidity of Hong Kong.
First prototype LED light board still working perfectly on my old Matchless after over a year in the heat and humidity of Hong Kong!- James, Hong Kong.
