A question I am frequently asked is: Which flasher relay unit do I need for my Triumph Bonneville motorcycle? Older bikes require a European style 3-pin design whereas newer models have switched over to using the Japanese style 2-pin units. Both of them do exactly the same job, but they are not interchangeable (at least not without messing with your bike’s wiring), so it is important to get the right one.
Both types are available in our online store here.
2-pin flasher relay
This LED compatible indicator flasher relay is compatible with many Japanese motorcycles from manufacturers such as Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki. The 2-pin design has also been used by Triumph on their latest Bonneville, Bonneville SE, Bonneville T100, Scrambler and Thruxton models built since around 2012 with VIN numbers beyond 521669 (see note below).
It is a direct replacement for the Denso FE218BH flasher relay installed at the factory on many Triumph bikes. It also fits many Triumph Speed Triple, 675 and Daytona models, as well as a wide range of cars and other motorbike makes and models from both European and Japanese manufacturers.
Earlier Triumph Bonneville models built prior to around 2012 and with VIN number preceding 521669* use an alternative 3-pin fitment for which you should select our 3-pin LED compatible flasher relay model here.
*Note: This refers to only the last six digits of the full Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), for example SMTTJ9107G9521669.
You can buy a 2-pin LED compatible Bonneville indicator relay in our online store here.
3-pin flasher relay
This LED compatible indicator flasher relay is compatible with many motorcycles including the modern Triumph Bonneville, Bonneville SE, Bonneville T100, Scrambler and Thruxton models built up to around 2012 with VIN numbers preceding 521669 (see note below). It is a direct replacement for the Hella 4DB-003-750 flasher unit that came factory installed on many Triumph bikes. It also fits a wide range of car and other motorbike makes and models, mainly from European manufacturers.
For later Triumph models built since around 2012 (with VIN numbers following 521669) which changed to using a 2-pin flasher relay without a separate ground connection, please see the alternative LED compatible flasher relay model here.
*Note: This refers to only the last six digits of the full Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), for example SMTTJ9107G9521669.
You can buy a 3-pin LED compatible Bonneville indicator relay in our online store here.
